Our annual trip to Minnesota was a little bit different this year. Usually my sister-in-law and her family usually go with us, but this year they were not able too. So there was just 7 of us that packed up the boats and cars and hightailed it down the highway to the state with 10,000 lakes. This state is by far one of my favorite places to go, and my wonderful husband would move us there in a heartbeat if I would let him.
Now let me tell you, when you have two babies that you need to pack for your car becomes a little full. Or really full in our case. By the time we had everything loaded for the trip you couldn't see out of the back of the tahoe. We did move some of the stuff into my in laws suburban so Craig could at least see. The boat was also packed to the gills...this happens when you need to take two of everything. Two bouncy seats, an exersaucer and a jumperoo. We didn't take the baby swings and the babies missed them but they wouldn't fit in the car nor in the cabin.
So hear is a run down of the trip...
Friday June 4 @ 7:30 am we leave Jill and Steve's house. We make it about half way across Illinois before needing to stop for the babies. Thankfully Keagan rode with J and S so that he wouldn't have to listen to crying babies. We arrive after a couple more stops in Owatonna, MN at our hotel. We have the best dinner and take a stroll through a Cabela's store. Amazingly enough the babies go to bed in our hotel room fairly easy. The next morning we get up and get going, just as we are getting into the cities (Minneapolis, St. Paul) we have a tire on the boat blow, Craig says it was all of the extra baby stuff. So short pit stop on the side of the road of a major interstate to change the tire. We finally make it to the resort and get everything unpacked.
Sunday Morgan wakes up puking and with a really high fever. The puking stopped but the fever lasted a couple of days.
Tuesday Steve starts running a fever and felling bad. In the meantime Craig is the boat captain.
Jill and I took turns going fishing or watching the kids. The weather was ok, kind of cool and rainy but we had a good time fishing. Helps when you have good rain gear. Steve is still stuck inside with his fever. After 4 days I called my wonderful boss and he called Steve in a Zpack. After two more days and no improvement he went to the Rapidcare clinic, he had pneumonia. Needless to say he didn't have the greatest of vacations.
The fishing was so so. Craig did manage to catch an almost 9 lb northern pike and an almost 6 lb bass, and couple 5 lb walleyes but we struggled to find them. We did catch a lot of crappies and bluegills. Craig won the fishing contest the first week in all but one category, which Jill won.
We took all of the kids out one day for a couple of hours. Morgan just slept and if you can believe it Carter was fussy unless you held him. He hated his life vest. Next year is bound to be a little easier.
Keagan had a little girlfriend up there. The resort owners have a 3 year old granddaughter named Kiara. Keagan had a great time jumping on the trampoline and playing in the lake with her. Carter got his two lower front teeth while we were there.
Jill and I had a great time going to our quilt stores. Its amazing the selection of fabrics that we find up there. Found some good stuff now I just need to find time to work on it.
The last couple of days were really windy so we packed up early and headed out on Friday instead of waiting till Saturday. We stayed at the same hotel and got home Saturday afternoon. Its so good to be back but I am ready to go back.
